Exploring Landscapes in Watercolor – Don Andrews

Don Andrews, a nationally recognized watercolor artist and author, will be presenting a three-day workshop at the Artists League of the Sandhills in October of 2023. Don is known for his figure and landscape paintings with glowing granular washes and vibrant light. His work is recognized for its strong design and color. He’s been working and teaching workshops for over 30 years and is an active member of the American Watercolor Society and a past board director. He is the author of “Interpreting the Landscape in Watercolor” and “Interpreting the Figure in Watercolor”. For watercolor artists this is a great opportunity to learn from one of the best in the country. Full members $400, Associate members $440, Non-members $480.
Bring Sparkle to Your Pastel Landscapes - Daphne Boder
April 25, and 26, 2023, 10:00-4:00
Daphne Boder, an award-winning pastel artist, will help you bring sparkle and life to your landscapes. This two-day workshop will explore ways to draw the viewer into the scene using a variety of colors and values, and helping your viewers to share in the beauty and wonder of the world around us. Daphne is a member of several pastel societies and has studied under multiple master pastel artists. Daphne will demonstrate her process working on anthracite Pastelmat with an underpainting of Pan Pastels. Students will be able to experiment before creating their own artwork, with guidance from the instructor. Full members $200, Associate members $220, Non-members $240
Still Life Impressionist Painting – Harold Frontz

This workshop is ideal for painters of all levels who would like to learn to paint like the great Impressionists. The course will focus on the use of light and color to create beautiful paintings in one sitting using an economy of bold and confident brush strokes. Other important principles of painting will also be emphasized including drawing, composition, and tonal values. The workshop will feature handouts and individual attention focused on each participant’s unique needs. Students may choose any topic when developing their paintings (landscapes, still life, seascapes, ships, etc.) and Harold will
demonstrate a different subject each day.
